Among the Drausk officer ranks, there are few who are entrusted by the Drakon of Drausk to bear a Dragonscale Coat. A Dragonscale Coat is a large greatcoat that, utilizing a patented stitch technique only known to a few native Drausk tailors, is able to fashion arrowhead-shaped dragon scales onto the thick leather for added protection.
These greatcoats do more than similar show the favor of the Drausk Drakon, but are a gift to those who have earned his respect. Even some family members of the Drakon may never recieve a Dragonscale Coat due to the high honor required to receive one.
History
Dragonscale Coats have been a marker of the Drausk Empire for over 1,500 years. They are referenced in some Kadian texts from before the Fall of Leokades, and even some pre-Kadian Adrausii records, though these are far more rare and hard to verify.

Rarity
Within the massive Drauskr army, there are typically only 10,000 officers who may ever recieve them and, upon their death, are typically buried with it to ensure that it remains solely with them. The Dragonscale Coat represents one's utmost honor to defending the nation of Drausk, it allowed them to walk among the great dragons of Drausk with no fear of reprecussion due to the scent and shimmer glinted off the coat, which makes even the smartest dragons sense the wearer as one of their own. Because of this, only officers with Dragonscale coats are allowed to train and utilize dragons in the field.
Dragons cannot be domesticated due to their diferently structured lizard brain which adamantly protests against typical domestication methods, however they can be somewhat trained to follow simple orders. It is these members of the Dragonscale Coat that are able to train and, in some early Drausk mythology, speak to and command the dragons.
