Vespians

Vespains are a species of tiny fairy-like people native Exorsia. They are speculated to be descendants from the Fairies of the Feywild, but due to their prolonged absence from the Plane of Faerie, they have lost much of their Fey magic. Instead, Vespians have barbed spurs that protrude out the back of their feet, spurs with a poisonous sting that can even debilitate even large creatures.   Vespains seem to have no concept of gender, and they may in fact be a single sex species, like Fairies. Vespians also only have a short life, this results in them always being active, with no concept of relaxing or taking their time. They are commonly ambitious, wanting to make their mark on the world before they die.   All known Vespians have two names, the first reserved for family and romantic partners, while the second reserved for friends and the public. It is seen as a great honour to grant first name privileges to someone, as it is a gesture of invitation into one's family, which can be romantic, though isn’t exclusive to that. But to call a Vespian by their wrong name is incredibly scandalous and inappropriate, and they take great offence to it.   Vespians are exclusively found in the forests of the Eternal Grove in Elderan. They are a very secluded people, living deep in the forests, within small villages built in the treetops. Little is known about them as they are extremely wary of “big people”, and sometimes outright hostile towards them. This hatred seems to have been passed down through generations, with legends claiming that the “big people'' once tried to wipe out the Vespians. It is unknown whether these legends hold any truth.   On rare occasions a Vespian will leave their village to travel out into the world in search of adventure, often finding it overwhelming. Most of our information on the Vespian species come from such travelers.
