Hypnos - The God of Sleep

Hypnos is the God of Sleep. He is a joyful and friendly deity, but he is also very drowsy and narcoleptic, spending most of his time slumbering and neglecting his duties.   Hypnos can usually be found in Oneiroi, the land of Dream, a part of Elysium, which he rules alongside his brother, the God Morpheus. Hypnos is also the primary consort of the Underworld Daemon Lethe.   Hypnos is also responsible for facilitating Divine visions, allowing deities to communicate directly to their worshippers through dreams.   Despite Hypnos’ connection to the Underworld there is no fear around invoking Hypnos or drawing his attention, but some people still avoid using Hypnos’ name, using epithets like “Brother Sleep”.   Hypnos is not worshipped outside of specific cults. Though some may beseech Hypnos if they are unable to fall to sleep.   Domains: Divine Visions and Sleep.   Symbols: A branch dripping water from the river Lethe, Poppies and Sloths.

Apperance

Hypnos is commonly depicted as a young and plump masculine, yet effeminate figure with wide, drowsy eyes, pale ivory skin and fair curly hair. He is also usually depicted with small, bird-like wings protruding from the side of his head and holding a branch dripping water from the river Lethe.
