Fortissimus, God of Fire

Fortissimus is a vengeful god of fire, his symbol is a burning sun with nine points, each point a tenet of his followers. Fire is sacred to the sun god, for it is through the nightfires of his followers that he watches over them and protects them from evil and chaos. His name is so powerful in the invoking of flames that he does not permit those outside his cult to know it, much less speak it. Aside from his role as the God of Fire, Fortissimus is crowned as the King of Summer, aside from the season, the King of Summer rules over half of the Fae, those in the Court of Summer. He considers himself too busy to tend to his affairs on three worlds, so in his stead in Faerie rules Titania, the Summer Queen, who is the daughter of Fortissimus and Lelia. It is from his role as the King of Summer that he comes into conflict with Rhyddid, the Queen of Winter.

Holy Books & Codes

The followers of Fortissimus are called Sol Invictus- the Unconquerable Sun. They have built great buildings of worship, called templum ignis- Fire Temples. Inside these the faithful gather to hear the will of Fortissimus, to hear lectures and sermons, and to raise their voices as one in a great prayer to feed Him.They sing and pray in Ingan, though few worshippers ever realize that they speak a planar language. Rather, they call it the Lingue Sanctae, the Sacred Tongue. Finally, they have the Ingem Purgantem, the Cleansing Fire, a holy book written by the prophet Miktal Firetounge. It is divided into nine chapters, called books, that are often quoted.   The Book of the Spark: This section details stories of great heroes who served Fortissimus, this section of the book is often distributed in Common. Each story tends to have an underlying message. The stories within are often called Parables, the most famous of which is the Parable of the Stag Hunt.   The Book of Judgements: The Book of Judgements details select prophecies, the most famous of which is “Let my angels be as warrior-shepherds among the flock, that they may bring justice to the downtrodden, and rain fury upon those who sin.
