Anglerfish

The Anglerfish, most commonly called Angler for short, are small personal submersibles used most frequently by the Reaver's Republic, but the design is slowly starting to be adopted by the River Kingdoms. Anglerfish are single man submersibles made of canvas around a wooden frame with a large glass 'eye' taking up the front. Without much room for a proper salt battery, the Anglerfish is powered entirely by two cranks that control forward momentum and buoyancy. The Anglerfish is equipped with a conical lantern for the passenger to see even in the murkiest rivers. The Anglerfish is designed to be a smuggling and espionage vessel, with hollow runners used to hold up the small craft while resting on land. Since the runners are hollow, they are used as smuggling compartments. An Anglerfish can hold about three hours of air and requires forty minutes to completely swap out stale air once surfaced.

Power Generation

A simple spell powers the light, but all movement is handled with mechanical power.

Propulsion

Like several Reaver's Republic submersible craft, the Anglerfish moves forward with a 'fish tail' protrusion and up and down with fin-shaped side rudders. The Anglerfish is powered entirely by cranks.

Weapons & Armament

The craft is not capable of holding weapons thanks to it's fragile construction. The Aquanauts that utilize them are often armed with Sawfish sabers and water-tight crossbows, both capable of cutting the canvas around the device in the event of emergency.

Armor and defense

The canvas walls can protect the aquanaut from small attacks, but river monsters often get the best of the Anglerfish. The bright light attached to the craft is used primarily to stun the deep dwelling monsters by flashing it rapidly.

Hangars & docked vessels

The most advanced Anglerfish models have electable cabins designed to float rapidly to the surface.
