Corian Republic
The Corian Republic, like most of the other cities in this region of the world, was once part of the Etrulian Empire. The city known now as Copperport is the capital city of the republic, and is a center of trade between the other kingdoms. The republic prides itself on its neutrality in the conflicts between the greater kingdoms, and historically has not been involved in any offensive conflicts in its brief history.
Kingkillers
The republic is among the youngest of the nation-states, having formed after the Kingdom of Auvetto collapsed in civil war. While few are alive today who fought in that bloody affair, the feelings of allegiance, either to the republic or to the old crown still permeate daily life. It's well known among the citizens of Copperport exactly which great houses, guilds, and merchants were royalists and which were for the republic. While the wounds don't run as deep as they did in the past century, there are still those in the Republic loyal to the old kingdom, or at least their idealized version of it.The Cambrian Continent
Sitting relatively beneath Copperport , and well within Corian-controlled airspace, the continent of Cambria has given the republic a new focus on expansion and exploration. This has become a large focus of resources of the government, given the massive untapped wealth and potential of the jungle continent.Diplomatic Relations
Public Agenda
The Corian Republic has a substantial Navy, and is home to some of the most well-trained and battle-hardened mercenaries around. It has little interest in traditional warfare or conquering, and instead seeks to exert dominance through trade. Since the fall of the royal family and the formation of the Republic, the primary focus in the Corian Republic has been the exploration, and exploitation of the continent of Cambria .
Military
The Corian navy is among the best on Etrulia, and serves to protect the transport and commerce ships from piracy. The navy, while incredibly skilled and benefiting from top of the line airships, are small in number, and serve primarily as a defense and patrol fleet. Beyond a nominal militia for defense of its cities and colonies, the republic lacks a formal army. That doesn't leave her defenseless though, as the senate regularly uses the immense state wealth to purchase contracts with various mercenary companies when additional spears are needed for a conflict.
