The Shiran
The veins of Bazuur
This article is a stub. Please comment if you would like it to become a priority for expansion.
The Shiran, also known as the Veins, are a network of roads that extends throughout much of the country of Bazuur. They are the lifeblood of the country, carrying trade and vital resources between settlements. Only two roads have even somewhat penetrated the rainforest, whilst there are no formal roads in the desert. Navigation in the desert is done with the use of thin obelisks of stone.
The roads were built over several decades, with large slabs of granite as their foundation. These roads generally followed the path of ancient highways, worn into the ground by thousands of feet, but in some cases more efficient routes were plotted out and created. Some Bazuurine spend their entire lives travelling the Shiran, carrying their wares from city to city.
Building this road system must have been a massive undertaking; I would love to hear the story of how it was conceived and constructed!
Definitely one of the biggest undertakings in Bazuurine history, for sure. I am looking forward to writing more about it, but some of it I picture like the railways being built across the US.
