Scarlet Scab mold is a type of corralum mold that can live independently or in symbiosis with a family of polymorphic slime-like creatures known as the Jhoutaioan Slime. If independent, they grow on corralum walls or other moist surfaces. They excrete a basic (7 to 8 pH) substance that can dissolve most organic materials, including the organic chains that bond corralum together.
When the mold enters a symbiotic relationship with Slime, the slime will become predatory as the mold grants the slime the ability to digest far larger prey, including Sophont.
Scarlet Scab is treated as a dangerous pest, especially when it is capable of eating through the material that cities are often built upon. Most common fungicides can be used to dissolve the mold.
