Kendar

Kendar is a small island in the northeast corner of the Teardrop Sea. It is the origin and home of the Sikendar people.   The island is unusually densely populated. Even though the Sikendar have not been an insular society since the Age of Blood and Bone, key aspects of their culture were formed in direct opposition to the Viri's way of life, which is woven through all the other cultures in the Teardrop Sea Islands as a result of the Ancient Viri Empire. As a result, many Sikendar feel out of place outside of Kendar, and so migration has been much slower than population growth.   This is causing a serious drain on Kendar's resources, an issue which is a hotly discussed topic in the Halls of Governance in Allkingdom. Kendar is the largest island in the Teardrop Sea to be owned by a single landowner, the Monarch of Kendar. It contains three cities which have spread to almost meet each other's borders, and are surrounded by small settlements. There is barely adequate land left to source food from.

History

The most famous part of Kendar's history is the Kendar Bloodbath, which took place during the height of the Ancient Viri Empire. A simple misunderstanding got out of hand, leading to the deaths of half the Sikendar population; add to that the lack of repurcussions for the twin Viri generals involved, and it made the Viri enemies of the Sikendar forever.   During the Age of Blood and Bone, many Sikendar were (initially) recruited by Allshadow, since he was waging war on the Viri Empire. Every single one came to regret it, but there was no leaving his army alive. Remnants of their early support for him remain on Kendar, meant to be a reminder of their people's biggest historical mistake, kept by the Allshadow Images Preservation Society.
