Siren

Life

Under the water, while humanoid, the siren is a horrifying creature, however, none that have seen their true form have lived to tell the tale. Sirens have both fish and human parts so they can survive fully under or over the water for long periods of time. However, they do need water every now and again to replenish their illusion and song. Carnivorous and while they can survive off fish, they prefer human meat. Their bottom half is rarely seen out of the water so it is always depicted as a fish tail. However, when out of the water it becomes human legs. While sirens are believed to be female this is due to the greater amount of male seamen in the early days. However, sirens can be any form, it depends on the preference of their target. Sirens are found in the waters around the Heshuan islands, however, there have not been sightings in years. It is thought that the increase in fishing has led to the sirens retreating into deeper coves and underwater caves. Their caves are often full of trophies from their victims.

Siren song

While many people believe that siren song enchants the person to do their bidding, that is not entirely true. What siren song actually does is put the victim into a stupor, lulling them to sleep. This dulls their senses and makes them more susceptible to the siren's charm. Sirens cannot actually speak human languages and their song sounds more like sounds. Their language is complicated and hasn't been fully translated yet.

Illusions

Not actually beautiful women but they can create illusions of what the person trusts and loves the most. However, their illusion dies under water. Most people believe it is sexual but it can be any kind of love or trust- no one is immune. This illusion is real and can be touched until it comes into contact with water. Different myths say it must be sea or any water.

Myths

Many seamen myths are of a siren that has taken a human husband. These sirens are unable to speak and the myth warns children to be wary of beautiful women who are mute.
