Familiar

When a baby creature appears on a witch's doorstep, it’s nearly impossible to immediately tell whether it’s a Daughter or a familiar. However, a familiar will begin to speak soon after it arrived, its words garbled at first, but as the creature matures and its bond with the witch deepens, the communication becomes clearer.

A familiar is formed when spores from the witch infuse a newborn animal. Once this occurs, the mother senses the change and brings her offspring to the witch’s doorstep, trusting her to raise the creature.

Familiars assist the witch in many ways, especially with potions, helping to refine the witch’s intentions and offering guidance and insight. With their intelligence and growing ability to communicate, familiars become not only magical companions but also wise advisors, aiding in potion-making and other magical tasks.
