Howlester

The land where Howlester stands used to be the direct holdings of House Payge. When they were overthrown by House Ryswell in 60 BE, their castle was destroyed in the final battle between the two Houses. Soon after, Ryswell began construction on a new fortress, which would be completed almost a decade later.   Howlester's power would be tested in 48 BE when neighboring House Fayr attacked, trying to capitalize on the fallout of the rebellion. Instead of sieging, Lord Branton Fayr ordered his forces to storm the castle, believing resistance to be minimal. It was a grave tactical error. The assault was rebuffed, and House Fayr's losses were so great that they had no choice but to sign a peace treaty and officially recognize House Ryswell's position.   Several decades later, as the Allesend Empire was invading Faloriand, Howlester was sieged by an Imperial Army in late 1 AE. The castle held out until early 3 AE, when House Ryswell finally submitted to Imperial rule. This would be the last time Howlester was the centerpoint of a battle.
