Kesh'mhett Desert (kesh-meh-t)

When the world was young, the Kesh'mhett desert was a deep lake. Fed by the glaciers in the surrounding mountains. Over the millennia these glaciers receded, dropping the water levels of the once great lake. A single deep,strong and nutrient rich river still runs from the Knurlanheim mountains to the lowest point of the Kesh'mhett. This created a fertile oasis in the centre of the abyssal plain. The water from the Sekmun oasis then filters through the porous ground and through underground caverns formed over thousands of years of erosion, creating several smaller ground fed oases throughout the Kesh'mhett desert.   The receding of the great glaciers created extensive cave networks throughout Kesh'mhett. As the Kesh'mhettites moved further and further into the region they discovered these caves and mined prolifically there in. Precious metals and rare gems became not only available but abundant. Allowing for the growth of an artisanal and wealthy kingdom to be formed.   The limited flora of this region are hearty and drought resistant. The fauna are often nocturnal and predatory due to the scarcity of edible plants in the region.
