Ibbensteppe (Ib-BIn-steppe)
Ibbensteppe is located within the Desert Ash mountain range.
This town is housed safely within the mountain under a stone overhang that shelters the entrance to the city from the occasional lava flows that occur in the are.
the grasslands of the steppe and the herds of grazers that frequent them provide the region with meat but not much else.
The city is only part of a network of tunnels and underground towns and outposts that wind through the mountain range.
These cities are often powered and lit by magma vents that have either been engineered or magically altered to be safe to live and work near.
These cities glow with farm red light, and even the floors and roads are heated by the magma that flows through the mountains beneath the towns.
several mines, excavations and underground pools can also be found within this industrial range.
Architecture
The buildings in the Ibbensteppe are distinctly dwarven in construction, especially the older buildings.
newer buildings are built in the same style however with varying degrees of success. suggesting that these town were originally part of the dwarvish kingdoms. Though none living can remember if this is true or what event took place to leave them empty and open to human habitation
The buildings are carved right out of the stones of the mountain themselves.
the private dwellings melding seamlessly with the walls and features of the mountain, while the towns and public buildings stand almost defiantly above stone that has been hacked away and shaped into perfectly measured squares and rectangles.
Fun Fact
The dwarves forced the dragon born out of the mountains of Knurlanheim centuries ago thinking that they were in league with the dragons that had been ransacking their mountain homes and steeling their treasures.
in retaliation the dragon born forced the dwarves out of their cities in the further parts of the mountain range.
ultimately it was this war between dragons and dwarves that lead to the segregation of dragon born and dwarves and lead to the sequestered sate of Knurlanheim today.
Though only the oldest of each race still remember the true details of the event
