The Fold
Onir's Return Campaign
I know this is a lot for all of you right now, but I want you to please try and understand. The charm is a self-defense. I’m in great danger, all the time, and I don’t know you. I can’t dispel it without risking my life. Surely you understand?
The Fold was created by Arden Elliott and Denali as a way to protect Denali from the danger of betrayal. According to Elliott, he was the first to bring up the idea.
The world can be a dangerous place for someone like Denali, who is defying the vague laws that prohibit information compilations by keeping a vast home library, living completely off the grid, growing all of his own food, and quietly working against the powers that be. Elliott understood this, and, wanting Denali to be able to trust him to help on his mission, helped him develop the Seven Laws of the Fold.
It is not possible to truly break any of the laws of the fold, and during genuine attempts, one suffers an amount of psychic damage.
Denali is keen to lift the charm, believing that by the time his trust is earned, those in The Fold will have no desire to break the laws, having had a chance to see the world the way he does, and understand why he is so passionate about change that he would live in an immense amount of danger for the rest of his life.
