Ghosts of Veritum
The Evolet Crypts Campaign
Very early into the The Lucy Lycoris' voyage over the vast sea, ghosts appeared to the crew, and Corvus alerted Skies, who in turn alerted Milya.
Skies, Milya, Fallon, and Corvus were alone on the deck before the rich dark green clouds above, being occasionally illuminated with a sharp, electric chartreuse.
All seven crewmen that had been on deck were collapsed, wrinkled, and shriveled, as if they had aged decades beyond what they were. Fallon informs the Milya and Skies that the crew fired first.
Suddenly coming out of the sky, wisps of translucence, like sheer fabric underwater, come together to form one patchwork face that trembles with the individual movement of each piece. Its voice comes out as a harsh whisper, but the loudest any of the four have ever heard, and it said:
Following this, the entire host of them scream, blood-curdlingly, leaving all four of them deafened until morning.
Captain Hael, at the sound of the scream, emerged from his quarters and attacked Fallon, the only one of them brandishing a wand. She wiped his memory of the incident, and told Milya and Skies that she had done this a few times to keep herself and Corvus out of trouble.
After looting the corpses of the aged-to-death crew, Milya and Skies gave them a sailor's burial.
The next day, Fallon noted that they had sailed over or near to the original gate to Tezcatleila---the Shadowfell of Isendrak---but said there was nothing else of note that she knew about the area where they had seen the ghosts.
Just what was that all about, anyway?

MURDERED. MURDERED BY THE ONES OF THE LIGHT. BY THE EMPIRE OF LIES. SIX THOUSAND CENTURIES BOUND TO THE DEPTHS. FORGOTTEN. SEE OUR FACE AND KNOW---KNOW THE NAME VERITUM. KNOW THE NAME THAT HAS BEEN SCOURED FROM HISTORY. VERITUM. VERITUM. VERITUM.
