Rhille the Swift

Rhille the Swift is one of the heroes who defeated Kalshazzak Aesymnetes, the last emperor of the Asurian empire, and sealing him away for eternity. In Caelester, she widely considered to be the leader of that group, and is redarded as the founder of the modern, post-imperial city.

Background

Rhille was born in the town of Kirister, just beyond the borders of the Asurian Empire, in modern day Atresh. In decades past, warriors from Kirister made their name fighting the forces of the Asurian Empire, but by Rhille's time, there was rarely more than a minor border skirmish. Seeking glory, she left home in her 20s as an adventurer.

The Fall of Asuria

Rhille was in her mid 30s when Kalshazzak Aesymnetes conducted his twisted ascension ritual, and was one of thousands who responded to the gods call to bring down the empire of undeath that he began creating in the aftermath. Already an experienced adventurer, she fought at the forefront of several battles against the undead legions, and was among those chosen by the gods to seal Kalshazzak, binding the immortal lich away for all time. Wielding her magic sword and donning a protective cloak woven by Iphine, the Allmother, she was among the eight adventurers who survived the final battle amid the ruins of the Asurian city of Caestor, weakening Kalshazzak so that the binding could be woven around him.   After the final battle, most of those who survived continued adventuring or returned to their homelands. Some remained in Asuria to seek out and destroy the remaining pockets of undead. And Rhille stayed in the ruins of Caestor, keeping watch over the seal lest, for fear that Kalshazzak might one day break free from his prison. Before long, a following grew around her: some pilgrims hoping to support the watchful hero, others Asurians who survived the war or returned to their homeland from distant lands suddenly freed from the empire's yoke. Together, they built a new city atop the ruins of the old: Caelester.
