In the city of Caelester, times are not what they were. Seven years ago, a terrible earthquake tore the city asunder. Many leading figures in the nobility died in the disaster, leaving the city's leadership scattered and disorganized - a state that has been maintained by a series of mysterious accidents that have claimed the lives of various figures trying to stabilize the leadership.
Reconstruction efforts have thus been slow. Much of the trade that once flowed through the city has shifted to rival cities, with the Silent Sea becoming a haven for pirates and outlying territories being raided by outlaws and neighbouring powers. And all the while, unbeknownst to all, an ancient terror stirs deep beneath the city, preparing the way for its re-emergence into the world.

News - November 2025:
In preparation for WorldEmber, I'm hoping to get through a full review and reorganization of this world, including a full overhaul of the categorization system. This means things will be sorted into temporary categories while I work through this process. This will primarily be limited to setting categories and tags - while I'd like to do a full rewrite of older stuff, I definitely don't have time to do that before WorldEmber, so I'll just be marking articles based on just how much work they need and saving the actual rewriting work for the new year.
