Temmie

Temmies are an extremely intelligent species of cat-dog hybrids native to the mountain range The Spine of The World. They are descendants from Crag Cats, trading magic resistance for heightened intellect. Their neural pathways are completely backward from another species perspective, using strange yet effective solutions to simple problems. They themselves developed the malachite nuke that destroyed most of Selune.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Temmies are a humanoid cross between a snow leopard and a wolf. The males tend to be more wolflike, and the females are more feline. They tend to grow to 3.5 feet tall, have a basic humanoid skeletal structure, with a feline skull. They have less muscle mass than a typical human.

Genetics and Reproduction

They reproduce through sexual reproduction, the way that all mammals do. Temmies have VERY slim hips compared to their almost disproportional head, so the gestation period is no more than four months. Females give birth through the central birth canal.

Growth Rate & Stages

Temmies live as long as humans, and they reach maturity around the same time. It can take a temmie over two years to learn to crawl, because of its very large head. They generally learn to walk at the age of 5. When a tem is born, they are around six inches long, weigh around three pounds, and are hairless. They start to grow a coat of fur at four weeks, and that coat stays with them until they are five, when they begin to shed.

Ecology and Habitats

Temmies are native to The Outlands, which is a very cold climate. They inherited this trait from their Crag Cat ancestors. Some temmies reside in the mountains of The North, and some reside in villages in the plains of the south.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Temmies are carnivores, eating mostly bird meat, which is easy to farm and kill, tems not being very physically adept.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Temmies had constructed a direct democracy in their society until the Capital arrived. Every Tem village governs itself.

Facial characteristics

Temmies have the faces of cats and dogs, with the males more doglike, and the females more feline.

Average Intelligence

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Temmies have eyes, and are able to see very well in the dark. They have the keen sight of a cat and the smell of a dog.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

All temmies are named the base of "Temmie", with extremely subtle differences in tone and emphasis. Only temmies are able to tell the difference, because they have an extreme sensitivity to differences in sound and air pressure.

Beauty Ideals

Temmies don't spend time on such petty ideals, instead focusing on one's assistance to the community, and judging them on that.

Courtship Ideals

When a tem wants to date someone, they will present the other with a gift that they think the other will like. If the other person likes the gift, they will begin dating until they decide whether they are the right fit for each other.

Relationship Ideals

When temmies date, its rarely with one person. Until two tems decide they want to marry, a tem usually dates multiple people to find out which is the best match, and when they find them and the other person agrees, they will spend the rest of their lives together.

Average Technological Level

Temmies' crowning invention is dry cereal, because it does not expire or rot, so it is the perfect ration for the military.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Temmies have their own language that sounds to the outside observer like random sounds and syllables throw together, but it is actually a vast dialect more complex than almost any other language. Most temmies speak a broken form of common, referring to themselves in the third-person as "Tem"

Common Etiquette Rules

They generally expect politeness and helpfulness from anyone who is asked.

Common Dress Code

Temmies wear clothes, but they are not mandatory over the waist, unless lactating.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

Temmies give gifts to their potential partner when they want to start a relationship.

History

Temmies were first discovered by other races around 1500 BTGI as primitive mountain nomads with little more than flint spears and a proto-language that not even each other could understand. In the time since then, they have become a very technologically advanced civilization, even inventing the first dry cereal, which they used as rations for their armies.

Historical Figures

Tems have the legend of Bob, a Tem who was not named like the rest, and was a messiah amongst them, bringing wisdom, and advancing their society hundreds of years in a generation.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Temmies have a positive view of all other races, not hating anyone for where or who their from.
