Architecture

For the poor

Architecture in Equeltec is somewhat diverse. With most of the building being one story narrow houses, constructed on a rectangle foundaments with chimney inclined at an angle of 45 degrees. They are usually constructed with rock chunks glued together with some mud. With shorter walls built a little bit higer, to make space for an attic. Such made skeleton is later covered with thatch.

For the rich

Besides them, one can rarely spot tall buildings, made from several segments. Tall tower(on square foundations) with several lower extensions emerging from it's sides. Main tower is beatifully engraved with symbols of local worship, and with words of wisdom engraved around the top.There are door on every floor(ground and 1st) Additionally just above the main entrance, Yuan-ti likes to hang big glass ornaments(magic Are'fauglir glass) reffering to their's family name. (Yuan-ti Crest).

For the spirit

Last type of the building included in every Yuan-ti settlement is Ziggurat like building which serves as local temple. Whole made from rock chunks, shaped into stairs which often leads to the altar placed on the top of the temple. Beneath the temple lies yuan-ti's burial place, however leaders and saint characters are burried on the ground floor of the temple.

How Architecture reacts to changing climate in Saint Gardens of Beory

By funding new settlement in Saint Gardens of Beory Yuan-ti had to learn how to live in a often changing climate.

Lush period

while it's present trees grow from underneath Yuan-ti's homesteads placing them high on the branches of trees. Luckily architects came up with solution, almost every house is linked with other building via rope bridge. Also city guards drop ropes down, in several places, so newcomers could enter the city.

Dry period

in this period every buildings ground floor, and all of the rope bridges are covered beneath the sand. When this happens Yuan-ti living in smaller houses stop using their chimneys to cook and start using them as a doorway. This does not apply to society living in a tall buildings, because they have several doors(one on the first floor and one on the ground floor).

Art of Trade

Because of Equeltec mainly consisting of Yuan-ti there are no many traveling merchants from this settlement. However many merchants from the other cities or even countries willingly come to Equeltec because there is little to no competition. So if you want to get your hands on rare Equeltec acid(which is very potent and used by best blacksmith's to treat steel weapons) you must venture there yourself(which is very dangerous) or be lucky and find one of not many merchants from land.
