Races of Eritaam
For both Players and GMs, Listed by Region
How to Use this Article
As a Player
These lists provide context as to how common a race is to a particular setting in Eritaam and help provide an important note of backstory for a player's character. If you want your character to be more natural or blend into a setting, simply choose a race from the appropriate list provided below.
If you want to be of a race not listed for the target setting, some additional backstory information should be provided for your GM. For example, if you decide to play a Verimasi Dragonborn but the campaign is set in Nyasuma, why is the character here, on a completely different continent from their homeland? As a rule of thumb (but not mandatory), these characters are usually immigrants or descendants of immigrants who came to the area generations ago.
As a GM
These lists are not meant to exclude other races from their respective settings. This is meant to provide a list of commonly encountered races by region to better understand how conspicuous a player's race is based on location.
On the other side of the same coin, it also helps make an NPC more memorable if they are of a race that isn't typically seen in the current setting. How did that character get here and why? Was it intentional, or are they lost? Some interesting dynamics reveal themselves when having foreign NPCs appear in key situations.

*Characters of the races listed in this section are usually individuals who lived in one of the existing settings above or outside of civilization entirely as a recluse. Having groups of more than 5 of these in a given location is exceedingly rare, if even possible by natural means in the current day of Eritaam.
