Society of Chiselled Hands

From her convictions, we are wrought out of stone. Created and moulded to serve her life's purpose of bringing forth justice and peace into this world. No matter how misguided it can be.
— A sister of the Society of Chiselled Hands
A group dedicated to helping others, the members of the Society of Chiselled Hands are a common sight around Tierra. With their inked hands, often handing food to those most in need. Between the food banks they run, and the shelters they provide, it would be hard to miss their constant mission to aid those in need. A long history proceeds them, earning them trust in the communities they serve. But for some, that's an opportunity to be taken advantage of.

Structure

The Society of Chiselled Hands is made up mostly of the volunteers that work for them, with a sparse sprinkle of coordinators. Coordinators work to locally lead small groups, mostly those that run the shelters or food banks. At the very top is the small board, who work to handle the donations received, and to best disperse the resources to where they are truly needed.

Mission

Overall, the mission of the Society is to provide aid and caring to those that have fallen between the cracks. While they do have a large portion of Elemental Spiritualists within their ranks, many of their volunteers come from non-spiritual roots. Uniting the group is the idea of the Earthren mother Tiana, and her mission to bring justice and peace for her people. Who, at the time Tiana lived, were a group of marginalized and hunted group, haunted by both what they'd witnessed and survived. For some within the organization believe that Tiana lives on, a mother watching over the Earths and all Elementals, others see her as an inspiration of what the Earths should strive to be. Leaders who cared for the beaten and the broken without question.

In this way, all members of the Society ink their hands with patterns, and runes in honour of Tiana. To them, it represents them channelling Tiana, to use their hands to make the world a better place. Many of the society's members have sworn to pacifism, to never use Tiana's hands to harm another person. These designs have quickly become associated with safety, with the most vulnerable members of Earthren society often using them as a sign to follow to shelter.

The Danger Lurking in the Meadow

Sister, is that you? What... What are you doing with her? Unhand her you beast! Guards!
— A Society Member discovering who her coworker is actually sworn to.

Due to the age of the Society of Chiselled Hands, they have had a long time growing alongside their communities. Parents teach their children to trust those with inked hands to be safe people to run to if they get lost. The homeless make their way to the shelters, often trailing those with inked hands. Those that some of Earthren society still marginalize, those of diverse genders, and Mixed Elementals, either shunned away from safe homes, or forced to run, find themselves in the comforting arms of the Society.

Which has made their ranks sweet opportunities for several groups that enjoy preying on them.

Between the constant rise of the Tuscendite and the Hybrids, both groups have found themselves temporarily joining the ranks. The Tuscendite work to try and influence the group to turn against their mission. As well as pretending to provide a safe space for those they hunt down in the name of 'purity' and 'order'. While more brutal, the Hybrids that find themselves among the ranks of the volunteers may have once been genuine members, before their true nature made itself clear. Neither group is welcome, and their increased presence has demanded further rigorous vetting for joining the group. As well as forcing the Society to hire mercenaries to protect their shelters and food banks, which they have had to swallow, despite it going against their pacts to pacifism.
