Council Member
Serving as a member of one of the 'big' councils in Elemental society is seen as a dream job by many. Whether behind part of the Military Council or serving as a judge on the Judicial Council, to make it to a Gold-Clad rank is to have made it in your profession. Council Member is a highly esteemed position, and those that serve in this role handle the largest decisions and often command or manage many lower ranking officials. Members of the Legislative Council often work closely to sway members of the Royal family, diplomatic Council Members advocate for nations on the world stage and military Council Members control entire divisions of the military.
Of course, there are only so many positions with the profession, and only the best of the best rise to the top. Or those with the best connections. Firina is largely notorious for their highly aggressive methods of their citizens attempting to reach these coveted jobs, and the legal approval to do so, meaning those that reach the rank of Council Member are extremely proficient at combat. Other nations care, or at least claim to care, about merit, though choices in hiring for the coveted position can be clouded by bias. Who one knows, as so often is the case, usually matters more than what one knows.
Different nations tend to aspire towards different Councils, though individuals may have completely different goals. For Firina, the Military Council is very esteemed, and even romanticize. In Tierra the Judicial, Diplomatic, and Legislative Councils are considered to be positive goals for those following 'proper Earthren values', while joining the Military, and certainly aiming to excel to the point of being a member of Council is frowned upon. Tora the National Research Council is what many young inventors aspire to join, a unique option to their nation alone. Though the Military Council, and specifically being the Council Member of Cyber-warfare, is sought after. For Isolde, the Diplomatic and Economic councils hold a lot of reputational weight, as well as being positions that are practically 'bought' as only the wealthy castes areallowed preferentially hired for these roles.
