St Camrynne's Forest

Geography

St Camrynne's forest is the name for the woodland that surrounds the town of St Camrynne's but predominantly the south west of the town. The woodland is old with many of the larger trees being centuries old. The forest grows from low lying rolling hills with natural valleys forming small waterways and/or paths for travelers to walk through and explore.

Fauna & Flora

St Camrynne's forest has a mix of coniferous and deciduous trees allowing for a wide variety of brush plants to grow on the forest floor, including ferns, shrubs and what the forest is more famous for, it's wide array of mushrooms. Some of these mushrooms have been domesticated in an agricultural sense as they can be grown on the back of one of the species of large fauna that dwells within the forest, the Giant Sloth. These sloths move so slowly that moss and fungus hand happily grow undisturbed on their backs. The mushrooms are then harvested by the citizens of St Camrynne's and used for food including used in teas. Some of the mushrooms that grow on trees are bio-luminescent and glow when the sun goes down at night or other low-light conditions.   Other fauna found in St Camrynne's forest include black bears, deer, elk, giant wasps and giant spiders, foxes, and in the more supernatural side, the forest is home to Dryads who watch over and protect the area from those that wish to harm their forest and upset the natural balance.

Natural Resources

Some areas of the forest, nearest the town of St Camrynne's has been set aside for forestry and lumber where a section is cut down and replanted for building and maintaining houses in the town. Mushrooms are grown and harvested. Berries and fruits are foraged when they are in season too.
