White Death
White death is a common and deadly disease among humanoids, particularly humans. A vast majority of those it afflicts die within a month of contracting it. It is named for the extreme paleness it causes in its later stages.
Transmission & Vectors
White death is transmitted through the breath of those who suffer from it. There is a 20% chance of contracting the disease for every minute spent within 10 feet of an infected person, and a 50% chance for every minute within 5 feet.
Symptoms
Within a day of contracting white death, a mild wet cough develops, usually accompanied by a fever. The cough worsens over the coarse of a week, until the infected starts to have difficulty breathing and occasionally cough up blood. By the end of the second week, the infected becomes very pale and sweaty, and starts to rapidly lose weight. Over the next few weeks, the disease saps the infected's strength until they die.
Treatment
Treatment of white death requires the casting of greater restoration followed by one to three weeks of rest. Full recovery is very rare, and the vast majority of survivors experience muscle weakness for the rest of their lives.
