Sahuagin
Sahuagin, sometimes called 'Sea Devils' or 'Shark-Folk' are an aquatic, bloodthirsty humanoid race with close ties to sharks. They primarily worship the god Sekolah and follow her tenants of strength, aggression and cannibalism. Many a coastal town lives with these sadistic creatures as their troubled neighbour, frequently attacking ships at sea and innocent townsfolk. The Sahuagin claim that only food which can fight back has any real taste for them.

Gender Ideals
Only females Sahuagin are deemed worthy of channeling the power of Sekolah, and so they hold an honoured place in society. Religious purity is considered an ideal trait in female Sahuagin. Some female Sahuagin are occupied as hunters or soldiers but many choose to focus on crafting and childcare. There is a lot of pressure in Sahuagin society for females who do not hold significant religious roles to stay close with the young of the tribe, as guardians and teachers.
As Sahuagin leadership is, based upon dominance of the fittest, males who, after reaching adulthood, grow in size at twice the rate of females often hold leadership positions over the tribe as a whole.
Average Technological Level
Sahuagin are technological scavangers. They have developed a limited amount of construction ability which primarily relies on the sculpting of existing rock formations. Much of what they use for the internal structure of their dwellings, as well as their decor comes from the remnants of ships they have demolished.
One exception is their talent for rope construction, which they accomplish with treated seaweed. With this they create nets, traps, weaponry and light furnishings.
Major Language Groups and Dialects
Sahuagin have their own language loosely derived from Aquan. Sahuagin rarely learn the languages spoken by outsiders. Those who do usually do so out of a perverse fascination - a form of 'playing with one's food'.
Common Taboos
Sharks are constant companions of Sahuagin. Although they are used as pets, mounts and workforce, they are also sacred. Insulting or mistreating sharks individually or as a species is considered a great crime to most Sahuagin. The punishment for this crime is traditionally being fed to a shark.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Generally speaking, Sahuagin view other species, particularly land dwelling humanoids as food. As such, Sahuagin do not desire to kill all that they come across, as
It is important to let the cattle replenish.Sahuagin would likely be the rulers of the ocean at large, were it not for the resistance placed on them by Sea Elf. These two aquatic races have seemingly always been at war. Some Sahuagin mutate such that they appear exactly as Sea Elves do. These Sahuagin infiltrate Sea Elf society as spies, sowing paranoia and weakinging resistance to the Sahuagin onslaughts.
