Aquan

Aquan is the language spoken water elementals and other species with ties to the Plane of Water.   It is, for the most part, mutually comprehensible with other forms of Primordial.

Phonology

Aquan is a flowing language. Consonants are frequently softened, affixed or dropped at both the beginning and end of words to allow continuous momentum through a sentence. Thus emphasis on a word within a sentence can be enhanced by consciously changing the speed at which a transition between two words occurs.

Morphology

Aquan adds a number of subtly spoken suffixes and vowel pitch changes that are inaudible to speakers of other Primordial dialects but which can change the register of a word, while not changing its meaning. A near-homophonous set of words can be a hideous insult or a gracious compliment directed at the first person, the second person or a third person.

Syntax

Sentence structure follows the standard primordial order of Verb - Subject - Object, except that it is not uncommon for inclusions of secondary statements within a sentence, so tied together to imply connections that wouldn't otherwise exist. Such a structure would occur Verb A - Subject A - Verb B - Subject B - Object A - Object B.
