Richard never wanted to ascend to the throne he was the second son to a beronan royal family that was a secondary branch of the family but, when the King died with no heir and with his brother passing away due to illness at the age of 21 Richard took the throne.
Before the throne Richard would showed an interest in the arcane and studied at the summerland institute it was here he would meet the only true love of his life Yelena. He would even revoke his tuition to be with her. Though when it was his time to take the throne the royal family had hunted him down and placed him in power.
Robert deeply cared for and missed Yelena and he wasn't happy being without her. He would soon meet another noble woman named Theodora and where he didn't love her he would marry her as he needed an heir and the only way he would get one would be with a wife. This would be a mistake as Theodora had an appetite that could only be satisfied with power. She immediately took to the position often forcing her husband into the background. She even renamed the capital after her.
He would meet Yelena again as the adviser to the Reighnian throne he wanted so badly to run away with her to just leave the throne behind and go back to that shack but, they were different people now He was a king, she was an adviser and he was spoken for.
Soon he and his wife would be approached by their own adviser it was none other than Xavierra Narshe, another sorceress and more importantly his wife trusted her. It was under her guidance that he started the war with Valom.
