True Heirs

Summary

The True Heirs are an elitist technocratic/magocratic hybrid that believe that those from technologically advanced civilizations bearing the half-psi mark are destined to lead civilization back to greatness. They were originally a marginalized yet rapidly growing faction within the United Future Coalition, but after years of being ignored they staged a coup at Hightower and successfully claimed the city as their own. Their original message inspired hope within people, but after the coup and their rise in power they became closer to overlords and slavers than guides and protectors, though many of their own faction still view themselves as such.   Positions of leadership are held only by those from a highly technologically advanced background, especially those with psionics in their blood. Originally, Awakened from advanced civilizations that were spliced with Progenitor genes to become half-psi's were granted positions within high society; their descendants have since carried on their titles and responsibilities. Despite their advanced technologies, they follow very primitive societal constructs; they are feudal in nature. The Grand Overseer sits at their throne in Hightower, and Overseers are directly below the Grand Overseer ensure that their general population do their duties.   The average True Heir settlement operates under a form of Manorialism. Overseers live out in a settlement has been granted to them (or their ancestor) and they guide their people in how they should develop the area, and the common folk are expected to follow their orders to the letter.

Social Structure

There are four levels of social status within the True Heirs. At the highest of the social stratum are the the psi-born, followed by the high-born, then the low-born, and finally there are the slaves.   Psi-born are individuals that have psionic blood running through their veins, and such people are given a higher education and almost always advance to the rank of Overseer or equivalent. The original psi-born were the half-psi's created by the Precursors, but most nowadays are their descendants. If a slave is found to be psi-born they usually have two fates: either they get quietly adopted or they are executed on the spot, depending on the circumstances. Psi-born are very rare, even outside of the True Heirs. It has been decreed that the Grand Overseer shall always be one of the psi-born, but there has only been one Grand Overseer to date. Any psi-born discovered within the technocracy that fully realize their potential are tattooed with the half-psi mark.   High-born are individuals born to titled families. These individuals are highly educated and are allowed to pursue any occupational paths they desire.   Low-born make up the bulk of the population, and enjoy relatively normal lives under the rule of the True Heirs. They undertake the majority of labor-intensive jobs in the magocracy.   Slaves are those that the True Heirs have captured during military conquests, and usually they are people born to families from technologically inferior backgrounds.

Settlements

Hightower: The capital city of the True Heirs. It is one of the tallest locations on Haven Alpha, and now serves as a metaphor for the Grand Overseer's belief that they stand above all others. The labs below Hightower were responsible for the creation of thousands of Awakened, yet the depths of it remain highly unexplored.
