Unknown. Members of the guild follow the laws of the city, but as to ranking within the guild, no-one knows other than their chosen Councilor.
Public Agenda
Publicly, The Mortuis study the arts of countering Necromancy. Rumors say that privately they seek the answers too controlling the dead and to eternal life. It is unknown how accurate the rumors are as the guild maintains strict privacy and speak to few outsiders. Almost all public knowledge about the guilds activities are provided by a single mouthpiece known only as “The Grave Mouth”.

Guildhall: The Gravehall
- Probably the least welcoming building in the city, the grave hall is a single black cube on the edge of the graveyard in Toft. It has a single door and no windows. Little is known about its true size, as guild members won’t speak about it, but rumor is that the guilds holdings run under the graveyard and deeper into the earth.
- Unknown. Some say that the Mortis have magical items that can raise or kill the dead, kill the living or grant immortality (and everything in between). However, no-one has actually seen them use the supposed items.
History
The most notable incident with The Mortis occurred in 447 BA when members of the guild were involved in assisting Arnora Thok in what became known as “The Arnora Thok Incident”. While some senior members of the guild were responsible for helping to capture the newborn Lich, other members of the guild secreted away her phylactery and rumors say that they are feeding souls to it to help maintain her in her captivity.
