Adjudicative Order

Structure

The Adjudicative Order is set into two main groups, the Inquisitorial Court and the Domestic Court. The Domestic Court and the Inquisitorial Court are both lead by Arctonon in technicality, but control of these have been deigned to Watchful Lord Harrigan of the Inquisitorial Court and Madame Sung Ken of the Domestic Court. The Domestic Court is structured like a standard administrative office, where individual control is deigned to middle managers and executives who in turn employ lawyers and advisors to manage cases, whereas the Inquisitorial Court is populated based on the number of nobility currently in power, generally 2-3 Adjudicators per noble family, equaling rank in the Order based on the level of their inquisitorial case with titles to boot, IE Count-Adjudicators who investigate Counts, Baron-Adjudicators who investigate Barons, et cetera.

Culture

Because of their purpose, internally they value justice, empathy, and intelligence above everything else, and they are unwavering in their goals. Externally they are seen as incorruptible upholders of the law who reign in the unrestrained minds and whims of uncaring nobility.

Public Agenda

The Adjudicative Order only exists to ensure that the actual rulers of Tasyr, the Lords and Ladies, are acting in a moral, or at least vastly beneficial way to the whole of Tasyr, and to ensure that the laws of the Lords are being carried out to a tee by the lower nobility of Tasyr. Each Lord is allowed to create laws for their own Realm without requesting direct approval from the Council, however the Council does have the ability to nullify harmful or despotic laws. Every major national decision, such as declarations of war, adjustments to the Moral Creed, or the impeachment of a Lord/Lady must be approved by the Council of Adjudication. Despite this, they do not have the rights to propose these laws, or change any existing laws.
They also act as mediators in legal or otherwise major disputes between nobility. Adjudicators have many ranks, most of which are names for internal petty and bureaucratic workers, but the most important ones are Counselors and Adjudicators. Counselors are members of the board that directly judge laws and mediate disputes, while Adjudicators themselves are the many members of the government that are sent out to observe and judge actions and deeds. Adjudicators are specialized in statecraft and stealth, with an above average degree of combat training.

Assets

They receive a portion of all taxes levied, and thus have a large amount of capital. Using this capital and their connections and authority, they can secure for themselves whatever equipment they desire, which is usually of the highest possible quality. Their Adjudicators are highly trained infiltrators, tacticians, and duelists, although they lack in numbers and armies to fight in wars, they are skilled enough to perform as assassins, even if they do not.

History

In the time between 476 and 500 HS, the nobility of Tasyr were infamous for their impunity and recklessness in their experiments and goals. In 500 HS, a Tasyrian adventurer named Caladore the Moral brought the nobility to heel by force, drafted the Moral Creed, and established the Adjudicative Order with Arctonon in an event known as the Didactic Punishment.
