The capital, Aequor, is located along the central coast of Aranea and was founded not by the Bray's of the 2nd Era, but by an ancient seafaring race searching for a permanent place to call home. It is constructed of magnificent blue coral-turned-stone, spiraling upward into the sky, laden with white marble, shells, pearls, and elegant, watery regalia. The seafarers who built it were ardent followers of a now mostly-dead pantheon of dragon gods, and those who settled there after their disappearance adopted these same beliefs (though, later, they went through a Reformation & Enlightenment period) in conjunction with their Human & Elven beliefs, with the Thousand-Head Hydra eventually taking precedence over all others. Araneans are inextricably linked to the sea and all that dwell within it, be they dragon, monster, ghost, or otherwise.
- Economy: Participatory, mercantilist, protectionist
- Economic Trades: Arms, armor, coralstone, monster ingredients, fish, shellfish, seaglass, ambrosia, wine, shark, ship-making, jewelry,
- Government: Imperialist, monarchy - a King sits at the top, but everyone else is appointed by council save for a select few chosen by the king; King rules absolutely otherwise; There is also a High Council, which sits below the king and above everyone else and may or may not include the king's chosen*
- Allied States: Hydrea**, Phaesta***, Paea, Ordinia, Vitale, Fyria
- Neutral States: Celesaad, Vollen, A'virda Fahl'Tir, Khaven, Riona, Gwynnere, Braxii
- Enemy States: Sahir, Seralta, Chimeria****, Xanthe*****
- Current Leader: King Aeon Bray I
- Future Leader: Prince Aeon Bray II
*This is current for 4th Era, but will be changed throughout the events of the story; Aranea will ultimately become a monarchal republic with the idea that a ruling family will be phased out and potentially better leaders can take a chance at running the nation.
**The people of the island Hydrea were forced to relocate when their island was overrun with monsters and began to sink; Aranea took them in with open arms, as no one else would.
***Phaesta is being actively used by Aranea to further 'reclamation' of monster-infested Chimerian lands - in other words, an invasion under the guise of 'clearing out the monsters'; It started as a penal colony, but became an expansive military operations and growing settlement in which none of the people there wish to live.
****Aranea is not explicitly enemies with Chimeria, they want the land and resources.
*****Xanthe is a barbaric slave state, but doesn't technically become an enemy of Aranea until later, under Aeon Bray II's rule.
