Sunjatta is a world of myths and legends, swords and sorceries, kings and prophecies, love and murder - and all the more still. From the glittering Bay of Lights strewn with the lanterns of the honored dead to the jagged depths of the vile Schism of the Stormwilds - a veritable pit teeming with abominations; The towering giant's ribcage in the Giant's Cradle to the snowy hellscape of the Daggerwood Pines; The mist-laden forests and canals of Chiima, so teeming with face-stealing devils and cannibal elves, to the White Marshes of Frea, the grave of men long-dead; The redstone cliffs of Askarra, the great faces of the Fates carved into seaside walls, to the sacred temples of the Face-Eater; The Hanging Trees at the borders of Myrrdin, strewn about with the bodies of nightfolk to the glowing Pools of Astraia, pink, yellow, green, and blue luminescent springs spared the turmoil of the Great Chimerian Storm-- there is much to see and experience, and you came at just the right time.
This is the story of not just one but several historical figures and the people around them within the world of Sunjatta during the 4th Era, each facing their own particular struggles in a battle-scarred, wartorn land where slavery, hatred, despair, fear, and cruelty have a stranglehold on the people. Such characters as Kara Vita, a harpy Shade from the Kingdom of Askarra, master of shadow magic and all-range armed combat; Loux Garo, a Sunjai scoundrel destined to bear the Sunfire Crown; Ardyn Wraithwood, Knight-Hunter of Frea, Tender of the Graves; Viresca Mandragora, an herbaflorist witch desperate for revenge; Sortia Morgana, an ancient sanguinaurum hunting for the Sanguine Star; and many more, each and all of them vying for purpose and meaning in their lives, flawed to their cores of varying moralities. Nothing is truly sacred in Sunjatta - if you love it, be prepared to lose it or die protecting it.
This world is by and large a labor of love, something I've been working on for many years. I've only just now found the courage to really sit down and write it all out, alas. My hope is to tell an interesting story that is worthy of being among other fantasy stories. Whether or not it's a great one, only time will tell, but hopefully it'll at least be compelling!
I will be posting the lore, the prologue, and first chapter drafts as previews here. Thank you for joining me for the ride!
Hello! My goal is to write a series of short stories and begin a full-length novel series regarding characters introduced in those short stories - with a little bit of a monster-of-the-week flare, and a pinch of romance. I do so love a good bard's tale.
