History
The shores of this great lake have been home to civilization for ages, long before the Wounding of the Weave. The first Order of Bronze Knights had already built there stronghold here in those days.
After the Wounding and the return of humanoids to this region, the city is said to have been built on the place where the hero Valric Torin Marlowe slew the Great Serpent of Torrindeep, having befriended the winged horses of the plains that had been feuding with the serpents of the lake. With the death of the Great Serpent and bond between halflings and pegasi forged, the shores and surface of the lake became safe to travel and the great city of Torindach rose up.
A new knightly order of The Bronze Knights was created when remnants of the old one were discovered on the islands of the lake, eventually hosting the signing of the Treaty of Torrindeep. After this signing, the Glinwyc Institute was founded here, in an effort to improve bonds between the cities by educating its wizards in the same place. The institute quickly grew in size and power, adding to the importance of Torindach as a whole.
After the Vanquishment of the Vale the city with its central location was made capital of the newly formed kingdom of Fennvale, and part of the city was leveled to make room for the royal palace.
During the Strife of the Scions possession of the city, the royal palace and its artifacts were the subject of many ambitions. House Marlowe held the city against the forces of Lewis Radomir for two months, refusing to give up on the missing Prince Rouland II. Radomir's taking of the city was arguably the greatest asset to his cause.
