Sufder Peaks Tunnel

It was once a triumph of imperial engineering, now it’s a corridor for goblins.   The Sufder Peaks Tunnel, more formally known as the Veilstone Arches (named after the giant gateways on both sides), was carved into the mountain range that now forms a natural divide between Aria and Bravia, nearly three millennia ago by the Magnan Empire. It served as a fortified corridor linking Aria’s imperial heartlands with its less cooperative holdings on the Ariac east coast.   Today it's a partially collapsed, monster-infested death tube squatting under a mountain range that’s trying very hard to bury it for good. This seems to be non-concerning for the Goblin tribes who reside in the Sufder Peaks, such as Gok's old tribe — The Grizzlefists — who use the western gate to enter and exit the Sufder Peaks. These tribes and specifically the Company of the Stormwatchers have an understanding. The Stormwatchers protect the tribe, while the tribe does not steal or raid on their lands. They are allowed to poach and steal from other companies of course.
The Gatekeepers
  • A dwarven mercenary company called the Gatekeepers used to have their base of operation somewhere in the tunnel, but communications stopped. In the past, two attempts by large companies of mercenaries were made to investigate the tunnel, but those expeditions did not return. On the other side of the Sufder Peaks, the tunnel entrance has been purposefully collapsed by the Company of the Noble Hearts, as they believed a string of monster attacks originated from the tunnel. Considering the wealth of Gatekeepers before their dissapearance, it’s still a popular destination for adventurers. None of them have successfully entered the Gatekeepers old domain.

  • In order for the party to get Gok out of the clutches of his old tribe, they had to clear out the old Gatekeeper base so that the Grizzlefists may use it for themselves, and use the technologies within. The base had been overrun with out of control automatrons and constructs, still functioning after a hundred years. Delving deeper into the base, they came across a metal laboratory, with a strange flickering portal at it's center. During a fight with a large, pantherlike creature, the lab suffered critical damage, and the party escaped moments before it detonated. They did pocket a journal from a dead dwarven scientist, and an important looking cylinder from the place, however.
