Hootalin

Hootalin is an alchemist from Althena, who found herself in the Bravian Mercenary company of the Red Sash after having lost her memories. For two years, she worked as a healer whilst having an illicit drug dealing business on the side. She used the services of Pen Ding to smuggle the goods around Bravia and Aria. During this time, she couldn't quite understand the arcane powers she possessed.   Joining the party on an adventure that would lead them to Althena, she slowly pieced together what the reason for her amnesia was. She was being visited by a being — Etuna, a mysterious god who seemed to have picked Hootalin as its chosen servant. Hootalin's actions was a balancing act between the party's desires, her own desires, and that of the god.   It turned out that her onyx ring was able to affect incredible changes, and that it was not always hers — the Darklight Guardian master Keyi Aw, leader of Althena's religious authority, used it to hold sway over the island for his own selfish purposes. In one incident during this time, Hootalin's parents were killed as the forces of nature were tampered with by Keyi. In revenge, Hootalin poisoned him and escaped with the ring.   The ring did not surive her return to Althena, however, as in Darklight Guardian Vault, Etuna forced her to make a choice after Gok made a terrible misstep. The choise was this: give up the ring—thereby proving her loyalty to Etuna—or give up her Eldrich Tome, through which Etuna bestowed her powers—which would end her connection to the god. She opted for the former, and the ring was crushed by a giant, animated statue. To her surprise, her lost memories started to slowly flow back to her.   At the conclusion of the adventure, Hootalin had managed eliminate Keyi Aw and usurp his position. As their adventure in Althena wrapped up, she left the party to focus on strengthening her shaky new position, while also rediscovering her forgotten life. The party can count upon her as an ally.
