Grunk Ironhide
“Discipline is for armies. We’re entrepreneurs.”Grunk Ironhide is a Red Sash mercenary of dubious loyalty and formidable build. A half-orc with a bad temper and worse friends, he’s best known for keeping his voice low and his fists higher. A corporal in the Red Sash, Grunk abuses the company's fragile discipline to conduct various criminal schemes throughout Northern Bravia. He first appeared at The Last Leg inn in Taran, where he met Gok and Ruffstrom at a card table and promptly headbutted the former. What began as gambling and fists ended with Grunk recruiting the group for a job: find and recover Mara Stonehammer, their captured associate in Aurorhaven. She knew too much. The kind of “too much” that could get everyone killed. Grunk and his co-conspirator Rennik Blackthorn had shared a long-running arrangement with Mara: illicit smuggling, forgery, and under-the-table profiteering inside the Red Sash. But Mara went rogue, started running with another gang and kept her old partners out of the loop. After her capture by Captain Medacnan, Grunk and Rennik tasked the party with getting her out, lest she talks and scuppers their carreers. Later, when Mara was rescued and the group prepared to flee Aurorhaven, Grunk and Rennik confronted her at the docks. Grunk demanded to know what she had revealed during interrogation. Tensions rose. When Rennik moved to kill her, only Gok’s intervention stayed the blade. Grunk, furious, denounced the entire plan and declared the others could have Mara.
“She’s a double-dealing harlot,” he spat. “We want nothing to do with this.”After the standoff at the dock, Grunk left Aurorhaven on horseback with Rennik. His current wareabouts are unknown.
