Ferith
(a.k.a. Fire)
Ferith is the element of and embodiment of fire. She is among the ten Erlithmanil and is popularly worshiped throughout Alkelbulan. As her counterpart Wylrith is a friend of Zalikar, she is extremely close to Lithmor. Like all of the Erlithmanil, she possesses five aspects which are a division of her personality and power. Ferith's aspects are Flithmar, Emryl, Shil, Corrust and Zithvek. Flithmar is flame, the physical form of fire. Emryl is heat, as opposed to Iska's cold. Shil is incineration, smoke and ash. Corrust is combustion and explosions. Zithvek is passion and anger.
Ferith is a deity typically seen as a force of destruction but also of rebirth, passion and creation. She is a patron of both warriors and craftsmen. Like Lithmor, she can be extremely intense and passionate—they often work together to inspire humanity. But her inner fire fuels more than her intense appetite for destruction and dangerous temper, her generosity and social warmth is unparalleled. She is kind, considerate and adores bringing out the best in those around her. By contrast, her counterpart Wylrith can be cold and harsh. But her kindness mustn't be mistaken for complacency. She is wild, untamed and pure-hearted. She burns away all ugliness, corruption and stagnation as an unstoppable force of raw destruction and purification. Ferith greatly enjoys the craftsmanship of humans utilizing her flames such as blacksmithing, pottery, cooking, baking, jewelry, glassware, etc. and especially fireworks. She is thusly a patron of the arts alongside Lithmor and Rylis—sometimes referred to as the Three Muses. She enjoys collecting and wearing such pieces. However, she is also a war goddess alongside this, enjoying and promoting powerful warriors especially female warriors. Alkelbulan is her favorite location in Emynea but there are areas of Yaxiya and even Eluziar which possess her blessings and who worship her as well. She is a popular element amongst humanity. Much like the other elements, Ferith's body has been destroyed and she was sealed away amid the events of the Downfall of the Erlithmanil. She has left her restoration in the hands of her Elemental Familiar, Sol, who was originally a ǁKo Wild Dog. Sol scours the world for a new host body for her master. Sol and Ferith have a healthy relationship with each other and work towards the same goals. Sol enjoys the perks of her pact and the two of them enjoy fighting side by side. Currently, Ferith has no potential host. |
Appearance |
Ferith tends to adjust her physical appearance based on where she is and what she is doing. When she fights, she prefers a lean and wiry form which is often petite but muscular. She especially enjoys terrorizing male opponents in as dainty and feminine a form as she can, hoping to decimate their pride. In casual settings Ferith prefers to be more filled out and even plump, wishing to appear welcoming and generous. She has a preference for the features of her worshipers in Alkelbulan but she will take up the appearance of a Daoine woman when in Eluziar, many daoine blessed with her magic. |

As the patron of craftsmanship, Ferith loves adorning herself with human creations whether these are jewelry, armor or weapons. She also enjoys colorful clothing or working metal into her outfits in some way. She finds too many layers of clothing stifling, not needing it to stay warm. In fact she extracts quite a bit of joy from fighting while scantily clad, adoring how it infuriates or embarasses her more patriarchal opponents. She thouroughly enjoys crushing these mens' pride. |
Abilities |
Ferith is the source of all five of her aspects—she is fire itself, embodied. She can freely manipulate any of her aspects without limitation. She is also able to temporarily cut off a fire caster from accessing her element, temporarily disabling their innate connection. However, Ferith cannot permanently disconnect a caster and it takes concentration to maintain. She also retains the ability to create new fire casters, temporary or otherwise. Ferith can freely come and go from her elemental planes and exert control over them. She can be aware of anything occurring in these planes when shifting her awareness to them. However, most of these abilities are limited by whether or not she has a host body. Without a physical body, all of her activity is limited to her planes and her separate aspects.
Ferith possesses all abilities and magic of her five aspects. These are flames, heat, smoke and ash, explosions and emotions such as anger and hostility. Flithmar is literal fire as most might envision while Emryl is the aspect of heat. Shil is a versatile aspect, consisting of the products of fire including smoke, ash, soot, char and even tar and oil. It also revolves around the act of incineration itself, a highly destructive aspect. Meanwhile, Corrust is the aspect of explosive force and combustion. Last is Ferith's sole mental aspect, Zithvek. Zithvek encapsulates emotions, thoughts and memories involving hatred, anger, dissonance, passion, need, disgust, hostility, impatience and other emotions which stir the spirit. |
Aspects and Planes |
Each of Ferith's aspects have their own elemental plane. Physical planes overlay and exist parallel to the physical world, connecting anywhere and everywhere an aspect occurs. For some planes, this is static while others constantly ebb and flow as the aspect occurs and moves. Mental planes instead connect to every mind of every cognizant species in Emynea, different planes connected to and storing the memories and thoughts related to certain emotions by aspect. |
Personality |
Ferith's characteristics can differ drastically depending on her state of mind. When calm and surrounded by those she loves, she is immensely warm, nurturing, comforting, generous and even invigorating. She dotes on her chosen family, her love passionate, ardent and fulfilling. She has a skill for bringing out the best in people and helping them get their frustrations out of their system. Of helping allies work through their problems. She is extremely encouraging and makes no attempt to stifle her admiration for creativity.
However, when provoked or overzealous she can be an strikingly different person. Her intensity can be more than overwhelming and her temper is legendary. She lives up to her aspect of passion and rage, her violence and destruction unparalleled as she burns or fully incinerates everything in her path. She is a war goddess for ample reason. Her temper is also very easy to provoke. There is no quelling her passion until she has achieved her goals. |
Background |
Ferith has always possesses a strong relationship with Lithmor and been extremely popular as a goddess. Whether as a war goddess or a patron of craftsmanship, humanity has always revered and appreciated her gifts. She has also always despised Zalikar, bashing and lamenting Lithmor's attraction to him. While she hates the manner in which their relationship fell apart she is no less thrilled it's finally over. Part of her still worries Lithmor may fall back in with him if not for their current intense differences in opinion. |
Morality |
Ferith is a champion to many causes, passionately rising to challenge the corrupt or fan the flames of resistance for the trodden on. She despises suppression or subjugation in any form, very much a supporter of underdogs. She especially looks out for women, reviling wonton patriarchy. She values passion and respects those with a powerful spirit, whatever they direct this spirit towards. While she adores creation, she also understands the need and purpose of destruction—something Lithmor often disagrees with her about. It is easy for her to get lost in her passion and lose sight of the bigger picture. She can also be much harsher than Lithmor in that she believes weakness needs to be purged from humanity by challenging and pushing humans, whether they want this or not. She wishes to drive humanity towards greatness, towards their best potential future. She seeks to purge corruption and weakness from humanity, to purify these imperfections so all of humanity can thrive. |
Accomplishments |
She's very proud of the child she had with Ylithuum. Ralgotar inherited much of his mother's spirit and taste for destruction. If anything, his temper is far more dangerous than even her own. Yet he also inherited Ylithuum's appreciation for tradition and steadfast nature. Both of these entities adore their volcanic Aethid. |
Relationships |
Lithmor is her closest friend, practically a sister, while Ferith reviles Zalikar. She similarly dislikes Dalyeric, finding them sneaky and disgusting. Ferith is otherwise close with Ylithuum, Raegeric and Rylis.
Among the Erlithmanil, Ferith has the most unstable relationship with her counterpart, Wylrith. They are very much fire and water, as one might expect, bashing heads and going in opposite directions with opposing views. Simultaneously, they respect each other and have a powerful attraction! Wylrith admires her passion, reliability and vibrancy while Ferith finds Wylrith's adaptability, serenity and intelligence soothing and elegant. They have seen each other romantically on and off countless times but it never lasts. In the end, Ferith's intensity and abrasiveness causes Wylrith to withdraw and grow cold. They always end up pushing each other away, sometimes explosively! |
