Summary
So, basically, there's this man.
No one knows who he is, where he has come from, or what he's doing.
He's been reportedly seen for over 50 years, despite him looking 30 at the oldest.
He barely talks to anyone, mostly seen writing in his Journal.
Historical Basis
Though his latest confirmed sighting was 984 ME, 66 years prior to the current year, there has been some evidence found to suggest he has wandered for over 100 years before this.
This is based on records mentioning a man with the exact same hat he is known for, a song being written about a man eerily similar to him, and a painting of one of the Biannual balls in which, standing in the shadows at the back, you can see a man who looks near identical to The Poet.
Spread
Near everyone has heard of this man, be it through having interacted with him at one of Haren's parties, or through word of mouth, he is a highly discussed gossip topic.
Variations & Mutation
So, though the most generally accepted consensus is that he is simply immortal, there have been some strange alternatives put forward over the years.
- He is a god
- He isn't actually the same one, he just looks identical to his father, and his father before him
- He sacrificed his soul for immortality
Cultural Reception
Though he isn't integral to any culture, the Hareners tend to take quite a bit of pride in the fact of him being close acquaintances with their Duke, and Duke Malud doesn't tend to quell the smugness of his empire, sometimes even adding to it.
In Literature
There have been many poems about him, some physically about some, some trying to imitate his style, it doesn't work.
In Art
As mentioned previously, there has been at least one old song potentially describing him, one painting possibly containing him, and more recently, as more people have become aware of him, more songs have been cropping up.
