Flint Lake Abby
Backstory
Founded in 904 in the marches along Flint Lake This Abby was built not as trade post, but as an extraction factory of pitch, a thick sticky tar like substance that burns hotter then any wood.
The pitch is harvested from the banks of the march by the monks, who have learned to refine it. Merchants, nobles and peasants come to the Abby to buy pitch in all quantities.
The pitch is very heavy, so moving it long distance in any quantity quickly becomes extremely expensive, so towns like Helenon, Haven Oaks and Ironhold Mines often use pitch for many things. Outside of that, typically only torches, dipped in watered pitch, can be found throughout the continent.
