Elenore Benichi
History
Born into one of Port Haven merchant dynasties, Contessa Elinore Benichi was not raised to rule ships or soldiers, but to rule balance sheets. Her family built its fortune trading grain between Lionstail , Sultanspire and Haven Oaks . When her husband died young, she refused to yield the counting house to her brothers. Educated by monks from Boars Tusk Abby in letters and numbers, Elinore took control of the ledgers, expanded her family’s contracts, and introduced strict methods of weighing and documentation—earning her the nickname La Bilancia, “The Scale.”
Though past fifty, her mind remains sharper than any blade in her fleet. She mediates disputes among merchants, arbitrates trade weights, and funds the city’s rebuilding after fires and floods. Her crest—the sheaf of wheat quartered in gold and green—symbolizes both prosperity and fairness. Yet whispers persist that she keeps secret scrolls of debt and favors owed to her alone, a quiet empire of ink and grain.
She has declared support for her nephew Benny the Killer as hier to the house, though the other merchant houses will have to agree when the time comes.
