Bachuss "The Small"

Upbringing

Buchas “the Small” was named in jest, for he towered over nearly every man in the Sultan’s army. Born the son of a blacksmith in the harbor city of Lionstail, his size made him a laborer before his voice had even deepened. He worked the forges, shaping steel and hauling ore, until a visiting officer of the Phoenix Guard witnessed him break a stubborn ox yoke in half with his bare hands. Within weeks, he was conscripted and trained to fight.

Buchas proved to be a natural soldier—steady under pressure, fiercely loyal, and never known to retreat. His strength made him a front-line bulwark, wielding his poleaxe with crushing precision. Yet, for all his might, Buchas possessed a quiet humility. He cared for the wounded, carried the fallen, and never forgot his humble beginnings.

But beneath his disciplined exterior, temper lurked like fire in a forge. Once roused, it burned uncontrollably—earning him as much fear from allies as from foes.

His reputation for unflinching service reached the Sultan’s court after a siege of a large bandit camp near Sultanspire where he held a breached gate alone until reinforcements arrived. When word reached Ambassador Justinian Aquilar , nephew to the Sultan, he requested Buchas by name to join his elite detachment.

Now wearing the purple and gold of the ambassador’s guard, Buchas “the Small” stands as the quiet giant beside nobility—proof that even iron born in the lowliest forge can be tempered for greatness.
