Decimation Ends - The God Pact

Great destruction and change has been wrought on Eltharas for two centuries. The great experiment is near to breaking. Angels and fiends walk Eltharas making war for and against their gods. Dragons and giants, somewhat akin to the Titans before them, but much closer to the mortals caught up in the war, battle each other constantly. The gods also strike at each other directly.

Dragons and giants, somewhat akin to the Titans before them, but much closer to the mortals caught up in the war, battle each other constantly. The gods also strike at each other directly. Though some seek only to protect themselves, what they see as their domains, and the mortals they have given Eltharas as their home.

Eventually Tharizdun brings all to heel. Perhaps because none had achieved what they sought. Perhaps because of the risk to Elatharas itself. Some suggest because Tharizdun threatened a great unmaking. And end to all things, perhaps the gods themselves. Perhaps each for their own distinct reasons. Regardless an agreement is reached between the gods. They will no longer walk upon Eltharas. They will separate themselves, and leave it as a domain for mortals. Allow it over time to go back to shaping itself with the life and elements that rest upon it. Each god would retreat to their home plane, able to meet and converse in the firmament and able to see the world of their making. They might even communicate and grant some minor boon to those that devote themselves or align themselves to the gods. But, direct intervention to be forbidden.

This pact, to be a chain binding them all. Holding them to it. And separating them from Eltharas would be to Tharizduns to hold. Tharizdun who would have this eternal task, holding the shackles of all the gods, containing and protecting them. Some say the god that breaches the pact will break the chain to their plane, destroying it. And thus destroying themselves for they both are their own plane as much as it is merely a reflection of them.

Tharizdun set to his eternal task, and pulled in every way by all the other gods and their contrasts is said to be god of duty. God of chains. God of pacts. God of madness. For surely none could bear such burden and remain whole.

Some say Humans were the last collaboration of the gods given to such creation before they passed beyond the great barrier that is the Pact, that is Tharizdun. One last creation to seed Eltharas with. Others suggest The Matron of Ravens had been Human and expressed the extent of their potential. Some agree, but assert she was the first. Or that she had a hand in creating them, and gave them the short lifespans that mark them out amongst so many other mortal races. Still others suggest the first Aasimar, Tieflings, and even Goliaths that seem to arise from this period seem to prove that Humans predate The Decimation for surely none of the other races spawned these creatures.
