Jorkan was raised among the Horsemen of Cavallo, both of his parents having been Cavaliers. He became a Scout at the age of 17 but refused to work under his mother or father for fear that they would give him special treatment. In his time as a Scout it became evident that he was skilled in tracking and navigation, even though his combat ability was considered sub par. Once he proved himself in combat, however, he was quickly promoted to Cavalier and eventually to Commander at the age of 35. As a Commander, Jorkan's camp was among the most successful, becoming a model for others to follow. When the previous Chief passed away the other Commanders unanimously elected Jorkan to become the new Chief at the age of 42.
Jorkan is married to a Centaur woman name Loriam who is not officially a member of the organization. Together they have three children and two grandchildren. Their eldest daughter, Loriss, and their son, Jobu are both Cavaliers while their youngest daughter, Jinna, works as a merchant with her husband in Final Respite
