Taridurane

The Taridurane is a species with many subsets that range in size from a few microns to almost 2 meters in length. They dwell in the deepest parts of the ocean, often in extreme pressure and heat or cold areas. Most of their food is the extremophiles that live in the darkest parts of the ocean, though they also feed on fluids within the sea vents themselves. Most of their reproduction is asexual, and for the asexual species they are often communal creatures, and small in size.   For some of the larger species, there are sub species that is one gender and then split into two genders for sexual reproduction. Once the young are born, they revert back to one gender and care for the young as a colony.

Basic Information

Biological Traits

Can pull its limbs and head into a ball, often termed a "sun," and exist as a dehydrated lump for decades. Once re-introduced to water, they rehydrate and can come out of the hibernating coma as if they came back to life. So they are extremely versatile in living in hostile environments, particularly at the deepest parts of the sea around the sea vents, where they eat the creatures there.   They can also survive in space.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

They live in every ocean on the planet, in the deepest locales -- often a mile deep. They drift on the currents of the deep sea between sea vents, where most of their feeding happens.

Average Intelligence

The larger species has average intelligence and often build communal colonies around sea vents. The smaller species have relatively low intelligence.
