108th Special Assault Battalion
"We are from many nations, but bear the same name. we are the 108."
the 108th Special Assault Battalion is one of the Trium Military's longest-standing and most decorated units. It has roots predating the organization, linking back to the old Empyr and the Star Crusades. Originally meant as an "experimental force", they proved their capability time and again on battlefields so hazardous, that normal troops seldom speak of them. Their designation often precedes their reputation. Hearing that the "108s" were nearby could mean absolute victory or imminent defeat depending on whose side they were on. They are a beacon of hope to allies and a misfortune on adversaries.
One of the unit's redeeming qualities and a reason behind its successes is its openness across borders. It began as an experiment by Ramza Kishin to see if high-quality units of different cultures and backgrounds could make an effective fighting force by combining their unique traits. It was disastrous at first with the two sides clashing immediately. It took a long period of disciplined training and synergy conditioning before they could be deployed. Even so, it seemed like a failure at first with mounting casualties due to miscommunication.
