Session 3.8

General Summary

After spending a week in the city of Cardona, the party began unravelling the mysteries of the missing sovereign and more importantly secured an alliance with Sovereign Raynaud. Then, the party had set off for their next destination of Uhlmar, the Federation City of the Orcs. For Zhorn and Fannti this is a two-week trip that they were quite familiar with having made similar trips within the past year. Aboard the Emerald Horizon the first leg of the journey took the party through the Western fork of the Mongave where the party decided to make its only stop at Quail Hollow.   During this first part of their journey the party spotted a group of three small boats drifting across the Mongave under the cover of darkness. After closer inspection, the boats remained stationary and appeared empty, however, as the Emerald Horizon continued, Caspian had noticed that the boats continued to the opposite end of the river, and upon reaching it multiple figures jumped out, dismantled the boats, and disappeared into the surrounding tree line.   Upon arriving at Quail Hollow the party was greeted by Detective Vesley, and Mayor Parse. Mayor Parse said that she has been in personal contact with President Highmore, who said she was doing well, and encouraged her to remain strong and vigilant as the end of the Brisbanium draws to its end. Also, Mayor Parse mentioned that the once kidnapped children are currently under the custody of Lustrator Davos, a Firbolg cleric from the DDS, who under the behest of High Priestess Genevieve Lloras was sent to the town to lift the curse that had befallen the children.   After debriefing with the mayor, the party then went to the Temple of Cygna to check up on said children. Upon arriving at the temple, the group met with the Lustrator who had admitted that his methods thus far have not yielded results. During a break in their “treatment” the party had the opportunity to meet with the children, and Zhorn, upon compare the children’s current condition with that when he last saw them was able to determine that although the children were not getting any worse, they also weren’t getting any better. He and the rest of the party tried their best to cheer up the kids but was unsuccessful. Caspian and Soren noted the children’s condition as creepy and seeing that there was nothing they could do at this time decided to leave the town and children as is and return to the ship and continue towards Uhlmar. During the second leg of their voyage, the party encountered another ship. This one was full of refugees headed for the Amethyst Isle. Agreeing to meet with their human captain, the party had deduced that this captain seemed to be out of his depth as he had an outdated map, was not aware of the time frame it took to get to the Amethyst Isle, and was ill equipped to make the journey. The party generously helped the vessel out the best they could by providing them with provisions, accurate directions, and even letting them use their names should this group of refugees run into their acquaintances and allies in the future. However, the most curious part of this instance occurred when the captain personally thanked Zhorn and Fannti. There appeared to be a moment when he began sniffing the two of them, with a momentary almost feral break in his initial anxious demeanor. This captain immediately apologized and excused himself with his entourage. It was a strange incident for the party, but ultimately the group let the captain and refugees go on their way.   On the final leg of their trip the party had one more challenge involving navigating the ship through treacherous waters into the Dread Port. Through a series of skill challenges, the party was able to bring the ship into harbor with minimal damage to the Emerald Horizon.
