Night of Allgods

This multicultural holiday celebrates the Alheim pantheon of gods. It takes place on the winter solstice, and people from all over the three kingdoms congregate to sing, dance, and drink together. The holiday usually lasts until dawn, and the day after is almost always a day of rest, with no one working unless they their job is absolutely necessary.

History

The origins of the Night of Allgods are cloudy due to its age. It is known that originally all of the gods had their own holidays, but one of the kingdoms, most likely Zetia, decided that they should all be put into one. While the Night of Allgods is certainly not the only religious holiday, it became the most notable one throughout the year over time. Five centuries ago the sermons spoken at the ceremonies were made static, and are now traditional to hear.

Execution

Colorful paper and cloth streamers are hung up all over the celebration areas, accompanied by drawings of the gods painted onto the walls of nearby buildings with removable pigments. Live music is played for the celebrants to dance to, and it is customary for the city to come together and bring food for themselves with extra to share. Marriage proposals are common on the Night of Allgods, and special religious sermons that are used every year are preached from various places. Oftentimes people can recite the sermons from memory due to their brevity.

Components and tools

Streamers made of paper or cloth, pigments that can be scrubbed off of walls easily, carts, tables and stages for entertainers and caterers to use during the holiday.

Participants

Virtually everyone attends the parties and sermons of the holiday, and all are invited to join in the celebration, even non-believers. Priests speak sermons throughout the night, and musicians keep the party lively.
