Redshore Island
A mountainous and jungle-covered boomerang-shaped island whose name comes from the color of the beaches of the island.
Redshore Island is covered in dense jungles that can entangle even some of the best non-native explorers in their vines, thick bushes, and dense trees. The vegetation can also prove deadly when grown on the island's steeper hills, as they often hide cliffs, unstable ground, and cavernous cave openings. The North-West shore is covered in rusty red beaches coming from the oxidized iron so prevalent on the island.
The jungles are filled to the brim with all forms of creatures that scurry, skitter, lumber, or leap. While most of the native animals pose no great threat to humans, native or non-native, there are several large carnivorous beats lurking through the shadows. One of those beasts is the Razorfur, who were introduced by the Mavanish settlers and grew out of control. They have fed gluttonously on the rusted beaches and the exposed iron ore, giving their coats the color of rust.
In the year 394 Metah, the Mavanish Empire sent a company to the island, occupying Redshore village without the explicit consent of the natives, as the Empire wanted to establish an outpost near the border of the Conjoined kingdom. It was discovered soon after, however, that the island's rocky interior is overabundant with metals, particularly iron.
After this discovery, a group of talented fire mages was hired to clear the North-East portion of the Redshore Island of its forest, the forest that the natives depended on for food and for materials. This understandably infuriated the locals, but after a violent uprising ended in tens of deaths, both locals and soldiers, their protests were quelled. Though to this day, there is resentment boiling in the populace, and there is always someone ready to assault a soldier or another foreigner, and the Mavanish Empire is always ready to strike out with inappropriate acts of vengeance.
The Mavanish Empire began creating a large mine in the interior of the island to remove the ore. At this moment, however, the Conjoined Kingdom made a claim on the island, which they then attempted to back with force, but never went through with. These claims have caused the production of the mines to cease, and for tensions to escalate between the two nations, though they have not yet erupted into war.
