The Wings of Darind Blackwing

Significance

The wings of any Demon are their symbol of power, the manifestation of their higher nature. Without them, they are not much more than Blood Kin or humans. Darind's wings were also magical in nature, and were spun from such materials as shadow, blood, fear and deference. Darind was made in the image of the retributor, and his wings provided him with magical powers such as transformation, inhuman strength and speed. Thus, when Darind recovers from his psychological scars, he wants his wings back. At this time, he is not a terrible person, and he knows kindness and morality, for they were indeed placed in his heart. However, when he retrieves his Wings of Blood and binds them to himself, he regains too his bloodlust and anger, and turns wholly, or at least mostly, evil.

The Wings are unique, as they are from a singular entity - Darind Blackwing. There is only one of them, and they lie in Loch Imrenal.

Raw materials & Components

Darind's Wings of Blood are made of, primarily, blood, which was infused magically with anger, will, and impassiveness. There is also fire in these Wings, which provides the magical fuel, and there is shadow, infused with madness and fear. These things make the Wings into an alchemical bombshell so complicated it is essentially indestructible by magic. One has to physically attack them, as was done in the past by Darind's creator, Amber Mistfoot.
